Explainer: Zipp wheels and components include a global lifetime warranty – how does it work?

Zipp wheels and components are raced at the highest levels of professional cycling and conform to the industry’s highest safety requirements – and beyond. However, because bike riding can be wild and s*#t happens there are occasions where the warranty is not applicable. Here’s the lowdown on how it works:

zipp wheels lifetime warranty explained
Dreamy.

When you buy new Zipp wheels and components you are backed by a global lifetime warranty. This includes manufacturing defects, but also any system failure occurring while riding your bike within the intended use of your Zipp product. Basically, if your Zipp product fails while riding, they will replace or repair it free of charge. There are a few occasions where the warranty does not apply so we thought we’d list all the details here for you:

Your warranty covers you when:

  • You are riding in a group, hit a pothole that nobody announced, and your wheel is damaged. You are covered.
  • You’re flying down a singletrack on your MOTO wheels and you crack a rim on a sharp rock you didn’t spot? You are covered.

Your warranty does not apply if:

  • Your wheels are damaged in a vehicular incident where your insurance would cover the damage.
  • You rode your 808 Firecrest Wheelset on gravel
  • You rode your 3ZERO MOTO on a Downhill Bicycle
  • Using Zipp wheels with indoor trainers that attach to the front wheel whilst the rear wheel is unsecured. Learn more on this here.

How it Works

  1. Buy from an authorized Zipp dealer or from Zipp.com
  2. Save proof of purchase (THIS IS REQUIRED)
  3. Register your Zipp wheels – it’s not necessary for the warranty but can expediate the process
  4. If you have an issue, take covered Zipp product to your place of purchase

Zipp’s “Keep Rolling” Program

Also, for the cases not covered under warranty, Zipp offers a Keep Rolling program, so you can get your products replaced/repaired at a reasonable price and get back in the saddle as soon as possible. Warranty coverage is for Model Year 2021 and later Zipp wheels, handlebars, stems and seatposts. It only applies to the original owner and is not transferable.
