11 Bikes of SRAM Western Cape Downhill
Back in April, under the bright blue of an incredible autumn’s day, we nabbed a few shredders from the SRAM Western Cape Downhill Series to take a quick look at their rigs.
Inside the field of 135 racers was a healthy mix of newbies, experts and SA’s highest-ranked shredders. The youngest rider on the day was 8 and the ‘most senior’ is closing in on the 60 mark. In terms of bikes; travel generally varies from 130mm through to 215mm of rear wheel smashery. Purists wouldn’t forgive us for not mentioning the three hardtails on track. Looking through the field you’ll find just about every wheel size you can imagine, with a mix of aluminum, carbon and a few steel frames. The burgers were juicy, the track was tacky and good times were had.
