Bike Check: Jason Boulle’s High Pivot Trek Slash

Jason is riding the Enduro World Series with a mostly stock, high-pivot Trek Slash.
Jason is currently racing the full 2025 Enduro World Cup Series and is currently the highest ranked South African in the series. His weapon of choice for the tamer tracks will be the 140mm travel Trek Fuel EX. For the wilder terrain, he will ride this 170mm Trek Slash. Ahead of the Val di Fassa round of the series, we caught up with him for a closer look at his magic carpet, a high pivot Trek Slash.

BN: What tools and spares do you carry on you?
Jason: In the frame, I have a spare C02, extra plugs, tire levers, a chain breaker and chain lube. With the cSixx on frame storage I have a TPU Tube, handpump, CO2 and plug. On the Lyne Bottle Cage is a Multitool and inside my EVOC backpack is a tyre pressure gauge.

BN: What is it about the Slash that you feel is the ‘special sauce’?
Jason: Well, that’s got to be the High Pivot suspension design. It gobbles up rough trails like a champ. Also, the geometry makes the ride really intuitive. This bike descends like a machine, I just need to learn how to keep up with it!

BN: What are you most particular about on your bike, in terms of setup?
Jason: Mostly just having the brakes biting hard and fast. I really enjoy a powerful brake, hence I bought the Mavens to upgrade from the Code brakes the bike came with.

BN: From track to track do you fiddle much with the clickers or are you more a set and forget rider?
Jason: I do a little bit of fine tuning on suspension pressures and the compression and rebound settings. Right now, I’m in a pretty good spot with it but I’m always open to tinkering to see what else might work better. // Follow Jason on IG: @jasonboulle
