New: OneUp releases their Aluminum Wheels featuring a front and rear-specific rim design

Having a read through this presser from OneUp it seems they’ve checked all the boxes modern Trail, Enduro and eMTB riders are precious about. The standout feature for me is the 28h front and 32h rear spoke count which puts the compliance where you want it (up front) with the stiffness / durability out back. By all accounts these look like a rad wheelset. Here’s the presser:
We wanted solid, no-nonsense wheels.
OneUp’s new Aluminum Wheels give you a balance of strength and stiffness for a responsive ride feel on the trail. They are a competitive weight but still strong enough for the heaviest hits. They’re backed by the same 2-year warranty and customer service support as all our products, with some new, wheel-specific perks.

OneUp Wheelsets are available in 29 and MX configurations in Boost spacing only. All wheelsets feature 28-hole front rims and 32-hole rear rims, made of 6069 aluminum. Front and rear rims feature dedicated, asymmetric designs to maximize compliance, strength and stiffness at both ends of the bike.
All wheels are hand-built with Sapim Race double-butted J-Bend spokes and aluminum nipples. They include high-quality 3M OneUp Rim Tape and OneUp Fillmore Valves, licensed from Reserve. The wheels are tested and certified for use on all kinds of bikes, including ebikes.

The front and rear rims use the same profile, but with different wall thicknesses and spoke counts. The 28-hole, 29” rim is designed as a dedicated front rim. The 32-hole rim, in 27.5 and 29”, is a dedicated rear rim, with added material to the bead and section walls, and reinforced nipple beds for increased strength and durability.
Both rims feature an asymmetric design, 27mm depth, 30mm internal width, angled bead walls, bead retention tracks and 3mm offset spoke holes for more even spoke tension. The rims are welded, shotpeened, powdercoated and then heat-treated for added strength and a more durable finish.

The OneUp Hubs use a fully machined 7075 aluminum body that’s super light and strong with an integrated drive ring. They use a 44T ratchet drive and J-Bend spokes. All service parts are available directly from OneUp or your local OneUp dealer. OneUp Aluminum Wheels are available with black hubs only.
We’re big fans of the Fillmore Valves and licensed the technology for our wheels. OneUp Fillmore Valves provide three times the airflow of a Presta valve, making tire seating easy and eliminating clogging from sealant. High-quality 3M tape ensures an airtight seal for quick tire setup and smooth installation. Every wheelset arrives pre-taped, with valves and a driver body installed.
