SRAM WC DH all set for Paarl
Downhill racing returns to Paarl this weekend and race organizers up the ante for 2024
The Taal Monument in Paarl will host Round Four of the 2023 SRAM Western Cape Downhill Series this weekend and there is some exciting news plus an expanded series on the cards for 2024.
We’ve seen their recent investment in a “World Cup” style digital timing system has added a new level of professionalism to the series. However, this weekend, we understand two new elements will be added to the race experience. A Speed Trap will record each rider’s maximum speed on a section of the track. Additionally, the final results will include a Race Split time. Both these new elements will offer riders data and insights into their performance against the clock, helping them refine their race craft. In 2024, the series will double the amount of events with an eight-race format.
“A big congratulations to all our riders who competed in Europe this year. Also, I want to mention that to continue to help riders in the region get more exposure to racing, we have decided to double the number of races in the Western Cape Series, for the coming year.” – Helen Erlangsen, Chairperson, WC DH.
The event takes place on the 21st & 22nd of October and the weather forecast promises perfect conditions for racing. Catch the action from 7.30 am on Saturday morning with Sunday’s racing beginning at 9.00 am. Learn more and enter here
