Pedal Project kids receive new ABUS helmets

Earlier this month, the crew from ABUS met with the riders of Pedal Project and decked them out with some new helmets. What a lekker initiative and from us we want to send a big congratulations to all involved.

On the 16th of February, Echelon SA, a sole distributor for ABUS helmets, proudly embraced the spirit of generosity by gifting bicycle helmets to the young enthusiastic bikers of Pedal Project Cape Town. The event unfolded with excitement and appreciation from the hopeful riders. The ABUS helmets, known for quality and protective features, contribute by nurturing safety through the hearts and minds of the children, radiating smiles while providing a safe space.


Setting a precedent in prioritising safety, Echelon aims to give back through its partnership with the Pedal Project Initiative. Focused on fostering bike safety awareness among children with disadvantaged backgrounds, who, despite life’s challenges, find solace in the sport. The initiative is made possible by Jaco v.d. Linde and the dedicated team at The Pedal Project Cape Town. Reflecting on the broader impact of the initiative. v.d. Linde, the visionary founder of the project, says, “It’s not just about cycling. It’s way more than that. It’s about teaching values, morals, and discipline while encouraging safety,” he adds.


ABUS, a globally acclaimed brand synonymous with top cyclists participating in prestigious events such as the Tour de France, proudly boasts a local hero as well as an ambassador of the Pedal Project, Nic Dlamini. His inspirational journey from humble beginnings serves as a true beacon of hope for kids facing similar challenges within their community. Similarly, he encountered his share of hardships; his resilience and commitment to personal success continued to radiate through his passion for cycling. Dlamini attributes much of his accomplishments to having the right mentors, and he now extends this invaluable guidance as a mentor to the remarkable children of The Pedal Project.

As the highly anticipated Cape Epic draws near, attracting cyclists from across the world, the children of the Pedal Project eagerly prepare to join the festivities, wearing brand-new ABUS helmets.
