Cycling South Africa has announced a comprehensive team to compete at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Switzerland. It’s a fantastic mix of our most experienced and talented riders from whom there should be some big results.

The Elite Cross-country riders chosen are Unathi Nxumalo, Damon Terblanche, Johan van Zyl, Michael Foster, Luke Moir, Candice Lill and defending World Champion, Alan Hatherly. In the Under-23 Cross-country category Thabiso Zindela, Ignatius du Preez, Massi Ambrosi, Ernest Roets, Luca Ruwiel, Lilian Baber and Tyler Jacobs will be flying the flag for South Africa. Nadia van Wyk, Samuel Clearly, Joshua Kanis, Neil van der Vyver and Stephan Aldum will race in the Junior XCO category.
For Downhill, there’s a full-house of three Juniors and seven Elite riders competing, all of which have experience racing in Europe. They are Arielle Behr, Pieter Venter, Fourie van Wyk, Frankie du Toit, Matt Lombardi, Theo Erlangsen, Johan Potgieter, Ethan Hunter, Keagan Brand and Rory Kirk. The four riders racing in the Enduro category are Luca Zietsman, Keira Duncan, Jason Boulle and Arielle Behr.

With 27 world titles on the line and more than two weeks of racing starting on 30 August, the 2025 World Champs in Switzerland promises to be a true celebration of mountain biking. From the technical challenges of Champéry’s legendary downhill track to the fast-paced XCO circuits in Crans-Montana, the event will showcase the sport at its very best and we look forward to cheering our riders on. //
