OneUp Components Announces NEW Wave Pedals
Your new favourite flat pedal. Get ultimate grip and bike control with the new Wave profile.
Most flat pedal profiles are either convex or concave. Wave is a patented hybrid convex/concave shape that promotes an aggressive heels-dropped riding position and gives you a more natural pedal stroke when seated.
Convex + Concave = Wave
The front half of the pedal has a concave profile that hugs the ball of your foot for unmatched grip. This holds your foot securely in place when descending and stops your shoe from sliding forward. The raised front also makes it easier to readjust your foot without taking your shoe off the pedal completely.
The back half of the pedal is sloped to promote an aggressive heels-down foot position for more power and control. This new profile keeps your feet in place without solely relying on longer, sharper pins. With Wave, your foot is being held by the shape of the pedal – not just the pins.
New Bearing and Axle System
The Wave pedal uses a proven axle, bearing and bushing configuration for improved reliability. We use igus™ bushings and three cartridge bearings on a chromoly axle that is strong enough for all types of riding, including DH and E-bikes.
Wave uses the same bearings, bushings and seals as our Clip Pedals, and a Pedal Bearing Nut Tool is included with every pair of pedals so that riders can easily service them at home.
Angled Pedal. Angled Pins.
Because the Wave design naturally encourages your heels to drop, the pins are angled up to 10 degrees to be vertical when riding. This leverages the Wave profile and increases grip – without the need for longer pins. Wave Pedal pins feature a ‘Hollow-Hex’ design that allows them to clear mud more easily.
They are also backwards compatible with OneUp’s original Aluminum Pedals. Each pedal comes with 9 pins installed per side. There is an additional 10th hole that allows you to run up to 10 pins per side. Additional pins are included in the box.
Development
We started riding the Wave profile in January 2022. Since then, we’ve tested 8 different iterations of the shape. After thousands of hours on the bike, we’re excited to share our new take on flat pedal design.
