The Time Xysto Pedal is something new from the house of SRAM.

On the way to South Africa (available next month) is this new large platform, mountain bike cleat pedal by Time. They say, it’s strong enough for the World’s fastest (apparently a prototype version of it won a rainbow jersey at Worlds) and suitable to anyone who prefers the confidence-inspiring feel of a wider pedal.

Pronounced ‘Shis-Toe’, the name comes from the type of stone found in the mountains around the factory in Portugal where the pedal is manufactured. The extra large platform measures 79x94mm and the design is asymmetrical, to optimize clearance, comfort and control. The pedals have a two year warranty period and are sold with adjustable and replaceable pins.

Included in the box is a set of cleats that are reversible, so riders can elect for a 13 or a 17-degree release angle. There is also an aftermarket cleat option, which gives riders with less ankle mobility a 10-degree release angle. Cleat tension is also micro-adjustable.

Time to get rowdy. See what we did there?

The design certainly looks like it will clear mud well and Time is well-known for having a dialed entry/exit feel. Stay tuned for our review. //
