Results: 2023 XCO World Championships
Candice Lill finishes 16th and Alan Hatherly 6th!
Tom Pidcock and Pauline Ferrand Prevot are the 2023 XCO World Champions. After a steady start, Pauline moved to the front on the first climb and powered away from the field to successfully defend her title. Candice Lill was riding well inside the top 10 early and finished the race in 16th. In the men’s race, newly crowned Road World Champ, Mathieu van der Poel pushed the front on an off-camber and crashed out, on the start loop. Alan Hatherly moved into the lead on lap two and rode at the front with Nino Schurter for multiple laps. Just after halfway, Tom Pidcock joined the party upfront and a few laps later opened the throttle to solo to victory. Alan, clearly suffering on the last laps, held on for sixth position.
