The 3 Key Changes Coming from Bosch

Free over-the-air power upgrades, a new riding mode and a new motor have just been announced by eBike guru’s, Bosch. Here’s a simplified breakdown of what’s coming..
Upgrade to 100Nm & 750W
From 1 July and through their Bosch Flow App, riders with the existing Performance Line CX (BDU384Y) motor can update their motor from the current 85Nm and 600W outputs, to 100Nm and 750W. This is an over-the-air upgrade, requiring no new hardware and is free.

The extra krag is also fully customizable — inside the App, riders can create their own settings with a slider that ranges between 600W to 750W, 85Nm to 100Nm and it seems the maximum support level of 400% that the system will give, can also be dialed back for a less punchy ride. All these changes effectively mean riders have a noticeable increase in power that will prove invaluable on particularly steep climbs, technical lines and when chasing mates.
New eMTB+ Mode
Alongside the new Kiox 400C top-tube-mounted display, Bosch has announced a new power mode: eMTB+. It would seem the new eMTB+ mode bridges the gap between the existing eMTB and Race Modes to offer more control on the trails.

While eMTB mode in the basic setting is optimized for touring and a longer range, eMTB+ mode is said to score points around the performance and fun metrics. Riders who want to customize eMTB and eMTB+ mode according to their personal preferences, can fine tune the various performance values in the eBike Flow app.
New Bosch Performance Line CX-R Motor
Scheduled for September, Bosch is also launching a new Race e-Bike motor the Performance Line CX-R. Building on the Performance Line CX — which delivered up to 85Nm of torque, 600W of peak power, and 340% pedal assistance — the new CX-R steps things up significantly. It boosts torque to 100Nm, increases peak power to 750W, and offers up to 400% rider assistance, making it a notably more powerful unit.

The new CX-R motor uses high-tech materials from the aerospace industry to save (±200grams) and features sensor technology that makes the driveunit respond within milliseconds. Expect availability to be limited to select models and bike brands. //
