How To Top Up Tubeless Tyre Sealant
Depending on the wheel and tyre combination, weather conditions, and riding frequency, you’ll need to do a sealant top up on your tubeless tyres about every five months.
You’ll need a pump, tyre levers and tubeless sealant.
We are using Motul Tire Sealant which is the official tyre sealant of the Tour de France, has a long lasting action and is non-toxic. Here’s the lowdown, (in video and written format) on the quickest and easiest way to top up your sealant.
How to top up sealant: Step-by-step guide
Nowadays tubeless tyres seal so well that we’ve found the best way to do this is not through the valve, but rather by unseating the bead and taking a look inside the tyre. That way you can see how much sealant is inside and remove any balls of sealant that can form.
Review: Motul Tire Sealant
Motul Tire Sealant is a new product that can be used on any tubeless setup. That’s XC, Trail, eMTB, Gravity, Road and Gravel. It has a sticky formula designed to cling to sidewalls and seal small to medium sized holes. It is non-toxic and Motul says it lasts up to nine months which is almost double that of other sealants.

Impressions
Compared to other sealants I’ve used, it feels a little more sticky and tacky. I’d describe the consistency as being a little more yogurt-like, as opposed to milky. with only six weeks usage and without any hugely science-based research done on the subject, it does seem to maintain tyre pressure, on road and MTB tyres, better than I’ve come to expect from other sealants I’ve used recently. I have noticed it seals punctures very quickly too – without much loss in tyre pressure. It’s a lekker product, works very well and I like the fact that it’s non-toxic. //
