You might have recently read the interview with Luke Moir where he talks about his race strategy and motivation which led to him securing his 8th National title. Since then, Luke has changed teams so we caught up with him for a closer look at his new race bike.

Luke stands at 176cm tall and rides a large Trek Supercaliber. He has made some minor modifications to the bike to suit his riding style which is best described as hard and fast!

He feels the lockout system is not needed and wanted to clean up the cockpit a little so it’s been completely removed. He has added a dropper post and alternates between a trail and XC wheelset depending on the course he is racing.

Luke rides a size Large frame with the standard 100mm travel fork.

The rear of the bike has a 60mm IsoStrut suspension system and Luke runs the manufacturer suggested settings on his shock – with a few small tweaks per race track.
The proprietary Fox shock is tucked up underneath the top tube.

For rougher race tracks look rides the Bontrager Line Pro 30 carbon wheels otherwise he sticks to the Bontrager Kovee Pro 30 carbons.

These are Bontrager XR3 tyres in a 2.4 width and on smoother tracks Luke uses the XR2 option. Pressures vary per race track and Luke rides mostly on feel as opposed to an exact setting. It’s around 20psi – for front and rear.

Luke says he prefers doing his interval days near technical trails so he can keep the fun factor high.
