The Ciovita Ladies Trail Summit Baggies are a technical garment that is slim fitting. Designed to perform, they feature a slim fit gusset, four-way stretch nylon fabric and a moisture-wicking waistband.
Breathability, Venting and Comfort
The Italian fabric is exceptionally breathable and is thin enough to vent easily. On windy days you can definitely notice how thin they are. They dry very quickly after being rained on and I found them excellent for hot and sweaty days out. They are thin enough to wear over your regular bib or lycra, even on hot days.
Features
The reflective trims bump up the visibility without turning the shorts into a Christmas tree. The single zipper pocket is a neat touch and has a short pull-tab to help grab the zip. The pocket is not the easiest to fumble with but is very secure for keys or cash. Looking after my skin is important and so I really like high UPF factor of the material. It’s ranked at 50+ which pretty much means it will block out 98% of UV rays when out on the trail. The elasticated and fully adjustable waistband also allows you to wear the shorts a little lower than usual, if you prefer that feel.
Value and Takeout
At R1299 they are reasonably good value and although made locally they do use an Italian fabric that accounts for the pricing. You can wear it over your normal bibs for trail riding to improve protection or as a comfortable post-ride slip-on for hanging out at the coffee shop.
