Jonkershoek hosted the third round of the South African Downhill Cup and SRAM Western Cape Series over the weekend.
The start list of 127 riders included a few rookies, seasoned shredders and some of the fastest gravity riders in South Africa. The relatively short track is famed for its flow, high-speed sections and a healthy dose of jumps. Unseasonal rains served a slick and tricky track for Saturday’s practice sessions however the sky turned blue and hero dirt was on the menu for Sunday’s racing. He has the meanest scrubs and bucketloads of style. Look him up. Heal up mate.A little under the weather coming into the weekend, Beani Thies slotted into P2.Frankie du Toit lit up the Elite Women’s racing taking the win by over 5 seconds.Pottie blasts through the road gap on his way to P3 in Elite Men.Stefan Garlicki is fully committed to what might be his final season as a World Cup racer. Based in Germany, he flew out from a test camp in France specifically for this race. That’s some travel indeed.
