So no, it’s not 17-speed – thankfully. It is however a full refinement of the Force AXS groupset with technologies developed for WorldTour professionals. Here’s the lowdown from SRAM, with their official release:

The most precise Force AXS is here.

Force AXS is available to purchase on 1 March.

Upgraded with technologies developed with WorldTour pros, and a striking aesthetic all its own. Choose from integrated power solutions for road and gravel. Go further with intelligent gear ranges. Personalize it with the power of AXS. Enjoy redesigned shifter paddles, a sleeker hood shape, and the consistent feel of hydraulic stopping power. More than an update, it’s a departure from everything you thought you knew about the equation of Force.

Force AXS  HRD Shift-Brake System

Small changes can make a big difference. We optimized the Force AXS hood shape to provide increased finger wrap for more hand sizes, so you can stay secure sprinting for town lines, committing to the rut in a muddy CX race, or chattering down a long gravel descent. What hasn’t changed is the power and modulation of our acclaimed hydraulic disc brakes. Intuitive shift logic and easy-to-find shift paddles mean these controls, dare we say it, really sparkle.

Force AXS Rear Derailleur

Road racing. CX. Gravel. Coffee rides. This derailleur truly does it all and looks good doing it. The single cage length works with any cassette size from 10-28T to 10-36T, in 1x or 2x configurations. Shifts are fast and precise, and the Orbit fluid damper keeps the chain in control, whether the obstacle you’re hitting is a pothole or a root. And the graphics pop just the right amount, to remind you that you have the coolest fully wireless drivetrain out there. Technologies include

Force XPLR AXS Rear Derailleur

The epitome of grit and glamour, the XPLR rear derailleur sparkles no matter the conditions. A dedicated 1x-specific unit designed for use with a 10-44T or 10-36T cassette, it makes for an uncluttered drivetrain that takes on pavement and singletrack with equal aplomb. Wireless and proven eTap shift logic, AXS connectivity and advanced chain management mean this derailleur does exactly what you want when you need it.

Force AXS Front Derailleur

Lightning-fast and reliable shifts, every time. The Force AXS front derailleur uses everything we know about shifting to provide precision when you’re switching rings. It’s optimized for the 13-tooth gap between X-Range rings, and Yaw technology ensures trim is a thing of the past.

Force AXS Wide Front Derailleur

The Force AXS Wide front derailleur is optimized for use with smaller 43/30T X-Range chainrings on wide crankarms and uses Yaw technology so there’s no need for trim. Its wider position on the bike also provides clearance for extra wide tires, so you can venture far beyond the beaten path.

Force AXS Power Meter Crankset

Force AXS is a carbon-armed crankset with direct mount chainrings.

It looks like it’s from the future, but it’s here now. Our lightest, stiffest, and most accurate integrated power meter and chainring combo is now on Force. Quarq D-Zero technology is accurate to +/-1.5% and isn’t affected by temperature changes, and the consistent 13-tooth gap on the rings ensures fast and reliable shifting. Not just unbeatable on performance, our integrated rings are also incredibly long-lasting. And let’s not be modest: the combination of these rings on our unicorn grey carbon crankarm is the best-looking thing out there.

The 1x crankset is also carbon.

Our 43/30T chainring combo combined with a wide chainline increases tire clearance while providing ideal gearing for venturing off-road. But gravel riders need power measurement too, so we’ve elegantly integrated Quarq technology into the DUB spindle, stealthily gathering the data you need to progress.

1x chainring sizes range from 36T to 46T plus aero direct mounts in 48T and 50T.

It’s the best of both worlds. A light and stiff direct mount chainring with accurate Quarq power measurement elegantly hidden inside the DUB spindle lets you stealthily gather the data you need to progress. So you can focus your attention on the stunning finish of the carbon fiber crankarm.

The power meter on the 2x is fully integrated with the chainrings to maximise weight savings and improve data accuracy.

Force Crankset

The crank is the very center of our X-Range gearing philosophy. With tight 13-tooth gaps between chainrings paired to wide-range cassettes, riders get more range while shifting less frequently and staying in the big ring longer. Previously only available on RED, our integrated chainrings are light, stiff, and incredibly durable. The black finish mated to dazzling glossy carbon arms will elevate any bike.

Force 1 Crankset

Direct mount chainrings are lighter and stiffer than traditional spider-based designs.

A single chainring with a wide-range cassette is a wonderfully clean way to tackle so many disciplines, and we’re the 1x leaders. Gravel, TT, tri or crits: just pick the right chainring size for the discipline and go. Our lightweight and strong direct mount chainrings feature X-SYNC tooth technology to maximize chain retention, and they bolt to carbon arms with a spectacular but subtle finish.

The Quarq power meter kit is integrated into the chainrings.

It’s the ultimate in integrated power measurement. The Force AXS power meter kit adds Quarq technology to our one-piece chainrings for the lightest, stiffest, and most accurate power package available. A 13-tooth delta on all chainring pairs ensures precise shifting for any setup, as well as a less dramatic change in cadence during front shifts. Combined with our most durable chainrings ever, it’s an unbeatable combination.

Spindle based Quarq technology is also available.

Power measurement is a crucial part of training, so we’ve made it as easy as possible to upgrade your Force AXS ride with Quarq technology. DUB-PWR takes the legendary reliability and accuracy of Quarq technology and inserts it into the crank spindle for clean integration that fits more bikes than ever. It’s invisible technology that adds minimal weight and will help you get to the finish line faster.

Force 2x Chainring Kit

50/37T, 48/35T and 46/33T chainring combos are available.

We wanted light weight, stiffness, and durability, and we got all three. Our one-piece construction ensures that none of your effort goes to waste. A 13-tooth delta on all chainring pairs ensures precise shifting for any setup, as well as a less dramatic change in cadence during front shifts. And the technology we’ve packed in makes this our longest-lasting chainring set ever.
