The Track Stand is super handy for looking fast, while standing still.

How-To | Come to a stop with your pedals level and a slight bend in the knees. Look down at the road, about a meter ahead of where you are. Turn your front wheel away from your forward foot. Keep your grip light and your weight on your forward foot. The trick is to apply just enough pressure on the pedal to keep the bike wanting to drive forward, whilst also using the gradient or your front brake, to counter that force, thereby holding you upright. Keeping your upper body relaxed is key, just about all the tension is in your legs. With a lot of practice, it becomes easier.

On-the-fly wardrobe changes.

How-To | Shift into a slightly harder gear to help stabilize yourself. Tighten your core by pulling your navel to your spine. Your eyes should be focused forward and looking where you want to go. Now, shift your weight back then sit upright and let go of the bars. Keep peddling, and keep your speed above 10kph. You’ll kind of use your core to steer the bike as you climb into or out of your gilet.

Eating Properly

How-To | You’ll be so much stronger and recover faster if you follow this simple fueling guideline. Before your ride – carbs will help you. During your ride – eat before you are hungry and aim for 50 to 100grams of carbs, per hour. After your ride, catch that recovery window by eating a small to medium sized meal that contains both carbs and protein.
