Trek updates Aeolus saddle lineup with new 3D-printed tech

Trek tells us their new Aeolous saddle features a patent pending, 3D-printed technology, dubbed AirLoom and the saddle shape has been updated.
The AirLoom lattice tech, is a wild-looking, 3D-printed web that is built to move with you, providing cushion where it counts and ditching all the pressure and friction that slows you down – or worse, causes saddle sores. Instead of traditional foam, the new saddles feature high-tech 3D-printed matrix that better supports sit bones, whilst still flexing under softer tissue.

Trek says traditional foam compresses unevenly and messes with rider movement whereas AirLoom’s open-cell design compresses independently, adapting to rider movement with every pedal stroke. That should provide major relief for hot spots and soft tissue pain.
Trek didn’t just stop at the padding. The Aeolus got a full-on shape upgrade too. Thanks to feedback from pro riders and some next-level pressure mapping, Trek refined the design with a narrower nose, less bulk in the transition zone and a longer sloped section up top. The result they say is less thigh rub and more comfort in aero and aggressive riding positions.

The new saddle is available in three iterations. The Aeolus RSL AirLoom features full carbon rails and shell and tips the scale at 164g (145mm width). It’s available in 135, 145, and 155mm widths and retails for R8000.
For increased comfort, Aeolus Elite AirLoom adds more lattice padding over a nylon-composite shell with austenite rails and brings the price point down to R5500. Riders can choose from a 135, 145, or 155mm width.


The third option is for riders wanting the updated Aeolus profile without AirLoom lattice. This Aeolus Elite Foam version is available in 145 and 155mm widths and retails for R2000. Learn more //
