Tiagra has been refreshed with wider-range gearing, reduced system weight and lever ergonomics designed to fit more riders.

Sitting between the brand’s 105 and Cues groupsets, Shimano’s new Tiagra R4000 groupset is a pure road, 2×11 mechanical experience that will be very wallet-friendly. We should have more details on pricing around the month of June, when the first shipment lands in South Africa. Shimano tells us they focused on real-world usability – from lever reach and comfort, to drivetrain compatibility, the new Tiagra R4000 promises modern road performance, for a lot less.

Tiagra is positioned between the 105 and Cues groupsets.

At the heart of the system is an updated shifter with an ergonomic lever design for easier reach across a
wider range of hand sizes. It’s paired with a new 11–36T Hyperglide 11-speed cassette option for the new 2×11 drivetrain system. The 11–36T cassette delivers a broad range for mixed terrain and climbing, while helping reduce system weight – it’s more than 200g lighter than reference configurations, supporting riders who want a lighter road setup without sacrificing gear range.

The Tiagra rear derailleur is designed for 2×11-speed road bikes, delivering smooth, precise shifts. Its
compact, refined design combines lightweight construction with reliability. With lighter front shifting and a smooth, natural shift action, the new front derailleur is an ideal choice for road riding. With the brand’s toggle link construction and an optimized cage design, it’s designed to deliver on-demand shift performance.

The cage is designed to handle shifting under load.

The new crankset runs on the same DNA of Shimano’s high-end road designs. It is purpose-built for road and is available in two chainring options, 52-36T and 50-34T. Crank arm lengths run from 165, 170, 172.5, up to 175mm.

The dual control lever incorporates advanced ergonomics from the acclaimed 105 series and has a premium look and feel. Its redesigned lever position and bracket, developed through research on various hand shapes, aims at providing superior comfort and control for road riders. | More: shimano.com //
